About
Brian Retterer (He/Him/His) is the proud partner to Heather Powell (She/Her/Hers) of nearly 19 years and the father of a wonderful 18-year-old daughter, Kayley (She/Her/Hers), a 2023 Springboro graduate. She will be attending Otterbein University in the fall. They also have a foster son in 7th grade who is heavily involved with band.
Five years ago, Brian and Heather moved to Springboro with the aim of providing their future children with the best education possible. They became licensed foster parents in 2018 and have since had several children reside with them, spanning 3rd to 12th grades. Brian's commitment to education was further strengthened when he and his partner, Heather, adopted their daughter in September of 2020.
Brian is a dedicated parent who strongly believes that every child in the Springboro School District deserves access to a high-quality education. He has worked tirelessly to advocate for educational equity and equal opportunities for all students. He has learned about 504s and IEPs and the struggles that come with advocating for children with special education needs. These experiences have only fueled his passion to ensure that every child in the district has access to the resources and support they need to succeed.
In addition to being a father and partner, Brian holds a bachelor's of fine arts from Ohio Northern University and he now works for a San Francisco based company as a web developer.
He loves community involvement and providing support to events for students. Over the years, Brian has been a volunteer for Springboro AfterProm, involved with PULSE, and is an active member of the JR Highschool PTP. He is also a part of founding Families of SHS to support the high school teachers and staff. Brian is active in the local arts community and web development community. He volunteers at Springboro's Oktoberfest and is on the planning committee for Christmas in Springboro. He is an avid supporter and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well. Brian is excited to be able to bring the knowledge, passion, and skills he has gained to the Springboro school system.
